Walk and Travel

This generated some comments on my personal wall - quite interesting - why not take your parents along? However, I think that the independence that going and doing your own thing gives you is important. Perhaps just invite them out for a holiday? I know lots of people who did this -good excuse for the folks to have an 'exotic' holiday and you get to be spoilt for a couple of weeks!

Let me know your thoughts - why would YOU want your parents to come travelling with you?

Interesting question! From what I gather Hyvent is a coating as opposed to a membrane bonded to the outer fabric and as such the coating may wear quicker than Gore Tex, but if you are not an intensive user then this may not be a problem. My thoughts are that Gore Tex will be a little more breathable, being the market leaders, but again this depends on so any factors, such as relative humidity and what you are wearing under the jacket. If the fabric is wetting out - i.e. the water isn't beading up then this will also really reduce the breathability of all waterproof breathable membranes and coatings.

There is a lot on Google searches about this and most people seem to think that Hyvent performs reasonably well, but is cheaper because it isn't licenced from Gore.

However, that said - it is now reckoned by most that eVent fabrics are much more breathable than Gore Tex -I've used them and found them to be excellent, but not really any different to when I have used Gore Tex.
