I loved staying at the hostel in Point Loma, San Diego! I strongly recommend that to singles or families! I went to SD with my boys and stay there for a couple of nights last summer. They loved it too!

Paul Sherlock This is a wonderful way for everyone to see the world on a budget..And just a few years ago i didn't even know what a hostel was..Young and Old get on Amtrak and discover North America. and you will meet some wonderful people from around the world..Myself i stick to the big city hostels.But there is something for everyone..And the Hostels in Europe and around the world are great.. Canada also has some wonderful hostels..Everyone across the ocean knows what hostels are..We still have some work to do in the states..Happy Travels...Mike

Stephanie, you should book as early as you can. Some hostels fill up rapidly, especially during festivals and other events.

1. hotwire.com, usually the cheapest flights
2. hiusa.org, for a great place to stay
3. Then I google the city, so I know what I want to do.
4. Then the city's public transportation site, so I can get around.
5. Finally, the city's calendar of events, so I don't miss anything unique.

Have you considered categories that relate to site visitors or spark their travel imagination:

Which hostel is right for you?, Traveling with your kids?, 10 best National Park hostels!, Hostelling and Train ride., Going Green!, How to convert foreign currency., Hostelling for the single traveler., The western United States in 7 days!, etc.

Often giving people a reason to travel encourages them to return year after year, and gives them the confidence to try other hostels.
