Hudson Valley Wine Magazine Now that the harvest is over and the 2009 grapes are fermenting in their tanks, winemakers can finally breathe a sigh of relief. It was a rough year for grape growing but that doesn't mean the festivities are slowing down. Mark your calendar for the seasonal wine events on our website – like Sip & Sign, Wreath Fineries... at the Wineries, and the Pride of NY Harvest Festival. Remember Hudson Valley wine is great for the holidays!

Hudson Valley Wine Magazine Discerning attendees enjoyed an evening comparing wines and foods of both France and the Hudson Valley at the opening exhibit of Lou Stettner’s “Works” at the Athens Cultural Center on August 15th. The event was curated by Howard Zar, Director of the Athens Cultural Center and was sponsored by Hudson Valley Wine magazi...ne and Hudson Wine Merchants. Winery sponsors included Hudson-Chatham Winery, whose Seyval Blanc was paired against the French “Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet sur Lie,” along with French and local cheeses and fresh berries. Millbrook Vineyard’s NYS Pinot Noir was aptly paired against the French Gamay “Brouilly Chateaux de la Chaise” with food ranging from delectable patés and cornichons to the ever-popular cocktail frank, Stewart’s chips, and a locally-made mustard. For dessert, Brotherhood’s Blanc de Blanc was paired against a sparkling “Gruet Domaine St. Vincent” and everyone enjoyed comparing the chocolate-covered meringues and macarons from Bouchon to both the gourmet and the classic version of the “oreo” cookie. It all made for a very colorful evening in Athens, and the cover of the new summer/fall issue of Hudson Valley Wine seemed a perfect compliment!
