You recently stated that the HHA/South Huntsville situation is the greatest challenge you're facing as mayor. My question is what is the greatest challenge we're facing as a city that the public DOESN'T know about?

My Family and I are considering relocating to Huntsville when I retire from the Navy in 2 Years. We are planning to visit next summer after I return from Deployment. I have visited the U.S. Space & Rocket Center many times over the years, and would greatly appreciate some recommendations for other things to see and do there during my next visit.

I am more American than anyone on here, ancestrially. My ancestors fought for freedom from tyranny, from being told how to live their lives, what to believe, poverty and all manner of persecution. They were none of them politicians, they were patriots. Big difference. What would they think of Obama? They would say that even Jesus was a ... Read Morerevolutionary. If you believe in something, act on it. You don't have to be right, only willing to get in the fight. That's where Obama is. I do not agree or disagree with his ideas, his words, but how much worse can we get? People! Wake up!! We are in the midst of a historic revolution. Will you be part of history? It's a very difficult question, but what do we tell our kids America is supposed to be if America never lives for them to see?

As for the religious aspect, there has always been fighting in that part of the world and there will be until the end of time. Check history, check whatever faith you follow. After Adam and Eve proved man's infallibility and incestral branches of the family broke away, each still claimed inheritance of the Garden. THAT is why there is always ... I know one school board member who faithfully attends school functions - and not just in his district: Topper Birney.
I don't remember seeing Ann Roy Moore at Butler High School from the time she was named Superintendent until I retired from teaching at Butler in 2001. A R Moore may have been there, but she was not out in the building, visible by teachers and students - might have been good to see her look interested.

You are right about Birney, he even volunteers at schools. Moore does visit schools but she is in and out. People need to know what is happening in the classroom. I was in the classroom for 22 years. Parents were always asked to visit their student's classroom anytime to see what we were doing. I had lunch with a former Johnson High teacher ... Read Morewho was transferred to Grissom High and she was appaled at the conditions and lack of supplies at GHS when she arrived. Also, a tranferred counselor to GHS who was from BHS did not even have a computer when she came to GHS and she could not believe it. Even the principal who had been principal in other hig schools said he thougth the success of GHS was because it "had everything" until he got there and realized that the success of GHS was a combo of the parents and teachers demanding excellence.
Reba, thanks, you would make 3 votes. (I guess my husband would vote for me.)
