In an effort to assist agencies in succession planning and to prepare personnel in supervisory and mid-management positions for greater responsibility, the Correctional Management Institute of Texas offers a week-long Mid-Management Leadership Program, five times a year, for criminal justice professionals at the George... J. Beto Criminal Justice Center.

Classes consist of employees selected, by nomination only, from adult and juvenile probation departments, the Texas Youth Commission, divisions of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Sheriff's Departments. Agency Directors may nominate, as program candidates, employees in a supervisory position with potential for promotion or who possess the potential to be promoted into a supervisory position.

Monday, September 14, 2009, the Lubbock County Commissioners Court approved a resolution recognizing Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies for their participation in the inaugural class of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy.

The Academy is a collaborative effort of the American Jail Association and the Correctiona...l Management Institute of Texas with support from the National Assiociation of Counties and the National Institute of Corrections. The resolution also was an endorsement of the Academy by the Court.Devamı

J. Mark Warre...n attended Texas A&M University and Saint Edward’s University from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1977. He also graduated from the 157th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Mark worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety for 23 years, 19 of which he spent at the Training Academy where he was the Assistant Commander for seven years. Mark was a member of the Verbal Judo instructional staff from 1987 to 2002. He is a member of the Texas Police Association and a member of the Association of Texas Law Enforcement Educators. Currently, Mark is the Training Coordinator and a Consultant for the Texas Association of Counties. He assists with the vision, development, and delivery of programs for both the internal and external customers of Texas county government.Devamı

Juvenile Probation Officer Basic is a forty (40) hour workshop for the new probation officer (1 day to 1 year). Participants will experience simulations, role plays, and group practices. They will also receive information covering the duties of probation officers without regard to specialization. The training includes topics required by the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission.

Nick Briggs has a degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University. He has worked in the CJ field for 25 years. His experiences range from working as a parole officer, executive management, to consulting work in the field. In 2003 and 2004, Nick worked as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Justice designing re-entry programs for offenders that had been incarcerated for long periods of time in secure institutions. Nick is currently the Director of Houston-area programs for Southwest Key Programs Inc. and operates Briggs Consulting Services.

BENNIE RAY has been an Attorney at Law for more than 25 years and is licensed in Texas and Georgia. As a Criminal Defense Lawyer, he is a member of both the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Texas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Bennie is also a Fellow of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Educational Institute. He holds licenses in a variety of courts including the U.S. Supreme Court, Texas Supreme Court, several U.S. District Courts, Federal Courts of Appeal, and several specialized courts. Bennie has served in the U.S. Military and worked for the Texas Department of Corrections. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston School of Law.
