Nora My favorite video of Jesse was the 3 TV version of him done by Pancreas Productions reciting 'there has always been something wrong with my face' with the mouse in his mouth shown at the ground zero gallery in Pi Square.
Dre "This is music ASSHOLE!" one of my fav SJB quotes. He said this at the Georgetown Steamplant show w/Big Black & The Blackouts.

SEE: Steven Jesse Bernstein perform poetry on a Seattle street. This is the only video I've seen of SJB reading.
I cannot in good conscience keep this treasure to myself anymore (not that I found it too long ago). I share it in the spirit that we should all share what we find if we're lucky enough to discover or acquire... something lost (ATTN: person who beat me out for the NPR cassette tape not long ago on ebay- i planned on putting it online for everyone. i hope you do the same! =). Freewheelin i hope this really comes out. The world needs to know about SJB. I had pretty much given up on poetry until I heard his track on the sub pop compilation and Prison. His work kicked me in the ass and continues to do so.

Barney Loved this man's work ever since I heard the Prison lp being played in a record shop here in London when it was first released. Rounded up most of his published works, including a few signed pieces and even a signed letter from Steven to some local paper in the USA. Brilliant wordsmith. Simply excellent...well ,and lot...s of other positive adjectives as well. Hope your film elevates his status.

Wow, what a find. Once or twice I year I comb the internets for some live footage or new stories about "Jesse", but never find anything... so I was thrilled to stumble on this page today, and I hope your project goes well.
