Its called your cartilage... You have to be at least 13 in most states and 18 in others. I got mine on my 18th birthday. It was warm and pinched just barely more than the ear lobe. It was sore for the first few days and if you hit it on something. You need to make sure you take really good care of it and keep it clean or it will get infected easier and it takes longer to heal. Otherwise it was so worth it.
