please write the CDC read my letter
      To Whom it May Concern:

...I see that as of Thursday you have decided to not change the protocol for the treatment of Lyme disease based on scientific evidence. You are saying that Lyme can be cured with in weeks with a antibiotic (of course to support big pharma). What do you say to the thousands of humans suffering at the fate of Lyme and its co-infections for years, how do you purpose that they get cured???? Do you think that they should just suffer? I guess that's what you are telling the American public but standing behind the 2006 protocol for Lyme. Well this brings me to my next point as you are leaving thousands suffering with no relief the CDC is supporting a vaccine to prevent Lyme http://health.msn.com/health-topics/infectious-diseases/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100256632 this link will take you to the site and you can read that you totally contradict yourself.

The bottom line here is Lyme is scary enough to warrant a vaccine of course big pharma. But it's not bad enough to warrant treatment past a couple of weeks of antibiotics. I employ you to go visit with my 55 year old father. Who was a vibrant, healthy, full of energy man until Lyme has ravished his life and your so called disease cure of a couple of weeks of antibiotics has proven to not help whatsoever and now if we followed your guidelines he would die a horrible painful death at your hands. But what absolutely kills me is to read how you are supporting a vaccine for this so called easy to cure disease. I am hoping that the American People will try the CDC for crimes against humanity. Thank god that my father has found thousands of other Lymees and together without any help from the CDC we will make sure he isn't another CDC statistic.

      Sincerely,

      Danielle Rodriguez

    • Sheryl Cashin Dr. Cameron and staff are incredible! I am so fortunate to have them and so close to home.
My heart breaks for the patients in the waiting room who have to travel 3-8 hours each way to be treated for this devastating disease.

ILADS Lyme Society The Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) Lyme Disease Review Panel is hosting an all-day hearing as an opportunity for patients, physicians and scientists to present information relevant to the 2006 IDSA Lyme Disease Guidelines.

The IDSA holds this hearing in response to an antitrust investigation by Connecticut...'s Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. In his groundbreaking lawsuit, AG Blumenthal charged that the IDSA guidelines for Lyme disease prevent many seriously ill patients from getting necessary treatment. A 2008 settlement resulted in the IDSA agreeing to create a new panel to review its guidelines.

Doctors treating Lyme disease aggressively with long term antibiotics are targeted by medical boards and insurance companies and face losing their license. The Connecticut Governor recently signed into law legislation that would permit physicians to determine what treatment is best and, in effect, overruling the current IDSA guidelines.

“These current guidelines have had a devastating impact on patients,” says Dr. Joseph Jemsek, Infectious Disease Specialist in South Carolina—and a member of both IDSA and ILADS. “In the midst of the healthcare reform crisis, these hearings offer a microcosm of a broken healthcare system.”

The media is invited to a Lyme Watch Media Center, where they can interview patients, advocates and doctors in response to the webcast hearings. The Center is in the Congressional Room on the lobby level at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, 1331 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, from 8am to 5pm.

MEDIA INQUIRIES: ILADS President Dr. Daniel Cameron and Lyme disease patients are available for interviews. For more information contact: Marc Silverstein at (202) 716-9123 or at marc@onthemarcmedia.com

    • Holly Martindale I would suggest that any Doctor currently promoting the belief that untreated Lyme is cured by 10-30 days of antibiotics introduce themselves to a lyme infected tick and delay treatment for a year to test out their hypothesis. I'd bet the standards for treatment would change VERY fast.

    • Sherrie Porter Amen! Or better yet - no treatment, which is what I got for 33 years before first being treated. Now I don't know if I will ever get rid of it. I was 13. I'm nearly 49 now. Lyme has stolen a significant chunk of my life.

    • Nancy Baumgartner Ugh! I am a school counselor in NJ and see kids misdiagnosed ALL THE TIME! Most parents find it hard to believe that a school counselor would know more about Lyme than the string of doctors they've been to, so the reams of info I give them and the kid's unending symptoms most often don't make a difference. Its very frustrating and alarming.
