The goal of technique in singing is freedom. Strong singers can be free of worry about phrases in the song and free of the need to control every moment...

Thanks for the additional insight Brian and Karen.

@Brian - I would love to talk with you about your career in opera. While ILoveToSing.com seems to cover careers in rock, pop, country, etc more than opera. We want to represent that area well to inspire and lead new singers who would like to pursue that path.

ILoveToSing.com The distinction between being signed and being indie (in control of your own music) does not matter much to fans. Instead talent, quality, authenticity, publicity, and genre are what matter.

ILoveToSing.com How does this quote strike you as a singer? ---- "Less than ten years ago the 'Holy Grail' for artists was to get a record or publishing deal. Toay, many artists avoid these deal (especially record ones) at all costs." - National Association of Record Industry Professionals

ILoveToSing.com Take a moment now to identify why you want to sing and your future goals. Setting goals is an ongoing process and may take time to develop. Don't worry if you goals change over time.

ILoveToSing.com A Few Things About Singing: 1) Most people have a secret (or not so secret) desire to sing. 2) Your voice is the most dynamic musical instrument. 3) Singing is a heightened form of communication. 4) Singing promotes good health, both physically and emotionally, and relieves stress. 5) Learning to sing builds confidence... and creates opportunities to meet new people. Can you add more?

ILoveToSing.com Business Tip: Music, press kits, etc. should all be digital. It saves costs and gets it into the hands of the masses. Don't worry about who gets it. Get it out to everyone. Worry about monetizing through live experiences (shows) and merchandising.

ILoveToSing.com In our world of overabundance, can an artist truly create something "original?" Maybe. So, what do you aim for? RESONANCE. Do you stike an emotional chord in your listeners? What an artist does is give voice to that which everyone else feels and experiences but does not know how to express.

ILoveToSing.com What music did you listen to today? Was it your favorite song or artist? Was it something you listen to often? Now ask yourself a few more questions. Beyond singing, how are you nurturing your ears and your inspirations? Just as you need books in school to provide you with a vocabulary that would allow you to write, you need to listen to music in the same way.

I LOVE to listen to Air1. It's Christian Alternative so it has a sound I like with a good message that both I and my family can listen to. Singing and listening to music fills me with joy.

ILoveToSing.com Okay, you sing well but what's your value proposition? Ask yourself: As a fan or potential fan, what does your stuff, message and existence do for me? The answer to this question is your ‘value proposition’. Do I entertain, help to forget, improves social life, makes others socially aware, inform, energize, calms, he...lps others to feel young again? Why should others listen to you sing?
