Even though they had met seven times before - with Pablojack enjoying only a slight advantage of four wins - no one doubted Pablojack would win his third career title as Q. Reese's most recent victory dated back to July 2008.
The American World No. 5 however quickly capitalized on Pablojack’s more than visible weakness as the Argentine was battling an illness.
On one hand, Q. Reese appeared humble after the match, acknowledging that he mainly won that easily due to his opponent’s health. On the other hand, he knows his skills, vowing to give World No. 1 Rikardo12_lpSoldier a tough fight in a future clash.
With a record of 37-31, and now two career titles, Q. Reese underscored his position as a Top 5 player.
Falling to 48-33, Pablojack was clearly disappointed, losing crucial points needed to overtake Eddi as the World No. 3 by the end of the year.
WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID
Q. Reese: "I am just shocked. I told Cobr4-[ITST] I was training, that the most I can do against Pablojack is to try my best and do not look back. No matter what, win or lose, I kept telling myself, I can walk out with the finalist plate."
"I am trembling, as if I know how Roddick felt when he won his title. I still have much to improve on. I will take this win and see if I can convert a win over Riki, the number one player for this circuit. I almost beat him at Medibank International, in three sets, and I gave him a go in just recently in two tie-breakers at Shanghai."
"I cannot take the credit 100% for the win, because Pablojack told me that he was sick. I am so sorry for him, and I think he is the best one to hold the finalist plate for playing the match on-court."
