The philosophy was transferred to Europe during the Christian era, but it was altered. It regained prominence in Europe through Asian traders during the Italian Renaissance. Hence, the Italian translation for bodhisatva is illuminati.
Various European groups used illuminati know-how for scientific, business and political agendas. The Roman Catholic Church persecuted these groups and individuals, labelling some groups as “the Illuminati” if they gained relative prominence for a certain period of time.
These groups persevered and inspired the birth of nations and republics, including the United States of America, but the misuse and abuse of illuminati know-how by some individuals and organizations have sometimes caused conflict and public paranoia.
