I'm being visited by the Muse okay, so it's muse issue #3! A quick personal note from the editor of the Muse. It is hard to believe in the transcient and metaphysical if i am to keep my head about me and yet i find things falling together in such a satifactory way that it seems beyond my ability to plan. I've had a rash of coincidences lately: a bo...ok opens to just the right poem, things fall together in a way that seems beyond my ability to plan. I'm sheepish about any left coast tendancies on my part and yet I've named this project the Muse, begging the question about outside influences. When I myself happen upon that creative spark, that lightening strike of inspiration, I recognize how these opportunities are lying in wait and I think to myself, "I've got to keep doing this.

I'm being visited by the Muse Economic downward spiral. Right at the time some very creative financial titans have made-off, and that's a bad thing. I heard Chuck Close the painter say something interesting recently, "An artist will lose everything and still go right back into the studio and get to work, contrast that with the fact that nobody at B...ear Stearns offered to go in and work a year for free to keep their company going." Is that a cheap shot? We need to see creative passion infiltrate our financial districts. Industry is what is going to carry us out of this mess and we need our corporations to get all Van Gogh on the bottom line. I wanna see more pliable, organic thinking middle managers free associate with some dry erase markers!
With this economic strain comes a sobering reality check on what is meaningful. Communities often commission public art to reflect what's eating at them. The WPA of the depression era, the Works Progress Administration, left behind an incredible legacy of over 5,000 jobs created for artists who produced over 225,000 works of art for the American people. This seems like a foreign idea in our present times. I hope I'm wrong. During your next visit to your downtown post office, look at the murals, they carry themes of hope from a time in our country’s history when dreams weren't allowed to be quashed by economic disaster.
Adversity elicits talents which lay unused in prosperity. You are are whittled down to your unique strengths, reduced to your fighting weight. So friends, investors, Git out there and help where you can,.. activate the creative mind!

I'm being visited by the Muse Robert Weibel, a figurative artist and printmaker from Fresno, Ca. He left middle management for something more spiritual, most recently using gunpowder to paint. The few seconds of spontaneous creation are recorded and the singular result of each unique event really gets him fired up.

I'm being visited by the Muse When you talk about creative inspiration, maybe it is just me, but it seems to demand a positive attitude to flourish. Look past the negative messages as much as you can. You have choices about what you take in...
Stay loose and just be yourself. In the moment. As they say 'dance as though no ones watching'.

I'm being visited by the Muse Mary Alice Copp not only produces beautifully rendered portraits, but her recent work involves two profound programs for teenagers in Newark, NJ and Santa Cruz, Ca. which mean a great deal to the subjects themselves and the community surrounding them. I'm being visited by the Muse

I'm being visited by the Muse Often I've heard creative friends say 'ideas are cheap' I have millions of them,.. the tools of the trade for an artist are the actual ideas themselves and the tough work is separating out the wheat from the chaff.
Of course this is great fun, but there's also this responsibility to see an idea to it's true potential......
to coax a real gem out of the rough. but you have to be looking...
there are big ideas and small ideas, ideas as big as christo's central park gates project or as simple as watching paint dry....
enjoy the sights..
So have your fun, go explore, activate the creative mind!
