His lyrics talk about war, destruction, partition, dictatorships, peace, democracy and the struggle for equality and justice. Imran's songs are not the voice of the lost souls but of the ones that have been found.
Imran Siddiqui's music career spans a period of almost 2 decades, when he first started writing lyrics in Karachi Pakistan for his debut band IRIS in 88.
IRIS was formed by 2 friends Atif Shariff and Imran Siddiqui who were seriously passionate about creating original Pakistani sounds that can provide a new wave of original thought, content written by the artists themselves and reality based concept writing never used before in Pakistani song writing.
Atif Shariff is now with Backhouse secrets in Orlando US and Taimur Khan now heads Widei Films UK. IRIS went out to record original Pakistani English songs like Shot Motel, Bitter Sugar, Devils Daughter, Dust to Dirt, Stranded in Heaven, Aaj say pehlay and Aizans eyes among others. But just in the midst of final studio phase, Imran had to leave Pakistan for higher education. Imran Siddiqui went out to finish his Media and Communication studies in the Philippines and IRIS went on to become Collage.
During Imran Siddiqui's 7 year stay on the mountains of Baguio and on the downtown streets of Manila, Philippines Imran had the opportunity to write, play and perform with some original bands of the Philippines. In 1994 Imran made his Manila debut when he was tasked to produce and launch Laguna's underground and undiscovered rock bands through a rock compilation CD. Imran had the opportunity to work with Philippines legendary musician and producer Heber Bartilome and Akasha records in association with Vicor records to launch Laguna's first underground rock compilation album titled "Atungal". Imran Siddiqui was also among the artists who debuted in that compilation album. Among others were Manila's original rock bands like Signum, Heard Under, Tragic end, Pintados and Signum.
In 1996, after the compilation album, Imran went on to form his own band, Sky high, with drummer Paul Gavino, Sherwin on base and Anton Atengco on guitars. The band had its share of impacts on the underground rock scene of Laguna with major performances at Manila's hottest rock clubs like Bottom Line, Club Dread and Mayrics. After a year of constant playing Sky High went on to record their English-Tagalog debut album "Value of life" at Sessions studios Manila with songs like, Bread on the floor, Cool night, Paraiso, Either one of us, Value of life, God will take care of you and Greetings, among others.
Imran's music career was pushed to the woods due to his professional obligations as a Broadcast Journalist, Producer and Director. During his stay in the Philippines he had the opportunity to work at some TV and Radio stations in order to pursue broadcasting. The members later moved on to their own professional careers and Laguna's Sky High got scattered in the Alleys of San Pedro and downtown Manila, though there is news about a re-union album.
Imran came back to Pakistan in 98 and worked for various Television and Radio channels and also helped launched a few TV and Radio networks in Pakistan and UAE.
Imran Siddiqui now works as a broadcast Journalist at Voice of America TV in Washington DC.
Imran Siddiqui aspires to reflect the scenes and lessons from reality and strives to make lives better even if he could make just one man think. His songs are about Life, God, existence and what lies beyond, blended with is own experiences that gives a bitter-sweet but an original taste in his song writing skills and psychedelic vocals as demonstrated in Beyond Perception.
