In-N-Out
In 1948, the first In-N-Out Burger was founded by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park. Harry's idea of a drive-thru hamburger stand where customers could order through a two-way speaker box was quite unique...

My Father In Law had a gas station right next door to where the 1st In-N- Out stand was in Baldwin Park before it was built and before the 10 freeway was built!...Weve enjoyed many hamburgers from the original In-N-Out!! Happy memories of B.P!!

We used to drive from El Monte to BP to get In-N-Out. It was a big deal when they built one across the street from the Midway Shopping Center, just a couple miles from home.

In-N-Out
In-N-Out's first location was opened on October 22, 1948 by Harry Snyder and his wife Esther Snyder at the northwest corner of what is now the intersection of Interstate 10 and Francisquito Avenue in the Los Angeles suburb of Baldwin Park, California. According to the company website, the Snyders had a simple plan whic...h is still in use today:
“ Give customers the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment. ”
A second In-N-Out was opened in the San Gabriel Valley three years later, and the company remained a relatively small Southern California chain until the 1970s. Only 18 restaurants were in existence when Harry Snyder died in 1976 at the age of 67.[9]
