Indiana Humanities Council Join the Indiana Humanities Council for a holiday party in classic First Friday style: Eat. Drink. Think. Talk. Connect. Reflect. Hosted with our fellow Meredith Nicholson Home tenants: Indiana Recycling Coalition, Central Indiana Land Trust, YWCA Indianapolis and CODO Design.

Indiana Humanities Council On Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m., Gov. Mitch Daniels and the Indiana Humanities Council will present 12 young Hoosiers with the Governor’s Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders at the Indiana State House rotunda.

Each honoree will receive $1,000, to be used as an educational scholarship or donated to a charity of the honoree’s cho...ice.

The recipients are:
Mari Yamaguchi, Robert Gough, Jennifer L. Danic, and Alane B. Summers, all from Indianapolis;
Samuel C. Bowles, Marengo;
Kylie A. Peppler, Bloomington;
Kyle E. Hultgren, Fishers;
Jaime Faulkner, Muncie;
Esmeralda Cruz, Frankfort;
Tonja A.G. Couch, Seymour;
Stephanie A. Roberts, Evansville;
and Christopher Beltran, West Lafayette.

Afterwards, join us at the headquarters of the Meredith Nicholson House for an intimate reception with the honorees and their special guests.

Indiana Humanities Council Busy week: In Elkhart County for the "Horizon 2.0: Innovation. Education. Implementation." community workshop on Wednesday. Thursday is PK night ($10,000 to the winning creative inspiring place idea), and Thursday-Saturday is a victory gardens play put on by Herron High School kids. Will we see you at one of those events?

Indiana Humanities Council Fight Club meets PowerPoint in this Spirit & Place event. In one corner, a presenter struggles to show 20 slides in 20 seconds each; in the other corner, a well-stocked bar vies for attention and conversation. Listen to Indy's top creative minds compete in this rock show of ideas. The winner will take home $10,000 to p...ut toward creating an inspiring place in Indianapolis. Partners include the Indiana Humanities Council, Pecha Kucha Indianapolis, Central Indiana Community Foundation, Asthmatic Kitty Records, Big Car, Indianapolis Downtown Inc, and the Local Initiatives Support Coalition. The show features collaborative works of art between artists and poets, such as former Indiana Poet Laureate Joyce Brinkman and cur...rent Indiana Poet Laureate Norbert Krapf.
