Rode from Dilltown to Heshbon today to try out the new bridges. Can't wait to go from Blacklick to Ebensburg. Will have to look for the geocaches.

Indiana County Parks & Trails The Ghost Town Trail Bridge Project has been completed! The section connecting the two bridges has been surfaced, and trail users now have a continuous trail from Black Lick (Saylor Park) to Ebensburg, a distance of 34 miles.

Indiana County Parks & Trails The 12th annual Hoodlebug Summerfest will be held Sunday at Firemen's Field, 25 W. Church St., Homer City.

Free parking is available at MGK, Cooper Avenue. Shuttles run every 15 minutes to and from the festival grounds. The schedule of events is as follows:

8 to 9 a.m. - Horseshoe tournament registration, field near MGK ...Lot

9 a.m. - Registration for second annual bicycle poker run on the Hoodlebug Trail at Floodway Park

11:45 a.m. - Flag raising, fire hall

Noon - Special memorial presentation; bicycle poker run awards, stage; registration for hula hoop and polka contests, information booth

12:15 p.m. - Blairsville Community Concert Band

1 p.m. - Parade, Main Street, conducted by the Homer City Fire Department; float theme: Christmas in July

1:45 p.m. - Simple Gifts, European folk music

2 to 5 p.m. - Car cruise, Floodway Park

2:45 p.m. - Simple Gifts

4 p.m. - Duck race, Floodway Park, conducted by the Homer-Center Historical Society

4 to 5:15 p.m. - PA Express polkas, waltzes and Obereks

6 p.m. - 5K race, conducted by Indiana Road Runners

6:15 to 8 p.m. - The Buffettman performs

8 p.m. - Festival concludes

All-day events: Ethnic food booths, craft booths, game booths and old-fashioned bingo. The Kid's Zone will be open from noon to 6 p.m. with free activities. Swimming will be free all day at Homer City's swimming pool.

Bring lawn chairs. No pets, alcohol, bikes, in-line skates or skateboards allowed on the festival grounds.

Rep. John Murtha announced that a bill passed this past week by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee includes an earmark that would provide $650,000 in federal money to Indiana County for upgrades to the emergency communication system.
