Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen's ‘Dead Men Tell a Thousand Tales’ is Radio National's Breakfast Album Of The Week starting Nov 16!

This is the first time since the the bands controversial show on post war Yugoslav state radio that it has been awarded such an honour. Mikelangleo was heard to mutter when he recieved the news – “Let's hope they don't send the dogs into the station this time - I can't run like I used to...”

Having just returned from a triumphant tour of the UK with shows in London and Edinburgh and glowing five star reviews Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen are pleased to return to hear their Album is highly regarded in the antipodes - the place all members currently call home.

As THE AUSTRALIAN newspaper reported in its glowing review of the groups latest album (their 3rd) – “Death may rule the Day but this is some of the most alive music I've heard in a long while”.

DZ assail the east coast once more with their danceable thrash party sound to help signify their second single, Teeth, from their debut EP, Ruined My Life.
 
The tour, presented by Mess and Noise, begins at Byron Bay and finishes up in Melbourne for a whirl wind of dates starting in late November to show case the release of DZ’s second single, Teeth.
 
DZ’s front man and guitarist, Shane Parsons, is pumped up again to start kicking ass across the East Coast with DZ’s Justice meets Death From Above 1979 two piece sound.
 
“It’s going to be fairly hectic again but we’re so keen to get back to touring the EP and the single, Teeth, that it won’t bother us getting two hours sleep a week,” Parsons quipped.
 
DZ have also created a competition whereby someone emails in a film clip idea – DZ then choose the best one and make it – in return DZ play at the winner’s house.

After three national tours since the 2005 breakthrough debut album, 'A Certain Trigger', and sophomore smash 'Our Early Pleasures', England's MAXIMO PARK are no strangers to these shores. And Australian audiences are no strangers to their rousing live shows. Urgent and vigorous, Maximo Park combine galvanizing rock, buoyant pop and dreamy synths to create a musical tour de force.

This run of shows will see Maximo Park play tracks from their most recent album, ‘Quicken The Heart’ , for the first time in Australia. An album that was produced by Oz icon by NICK LAUNAY of NICK CAVE/GRINDERMAN, TALKING HEADS & YEAH YEAH YEAH’s fame, together they crafted an album of ingenious hooks and memorable lyrics that search for romance in everyday life.

In 2005, Chris Devlin, Ronnie Darko & XXXChange (the musical & DJ mad-genii behind Spank Rock) made a mix CD entitled "Couche Tard" - widely regarded as their craziest piece of work ever – which was picked up by Ninjatune and released in a super-limited run to promote the first Spank Rock/Big Dada single "Backyard Betty"...the end.

UNTIL… now, reissued with a bonus DVD (by Canadian video artist &/OR) totally synched to the music CD. Needless to say this is just as bananas as the CD and the source material is off the hook: mixed, altered/skewed & dragged, just generally effect-laden on top of the quick change subject matter: Elvis, archival b-boy footage, kung fu, old cartoons, ceremonial Asian dancers, burlesque videos.

The mix mashes up hip hop, B-more, ska, ‘60s girl groups, soul, funk, crunk, electro, new wave, grime AND the kitchen sink.
Guest appearances come from MC Spank Rock, Pase Rock, Amanda Blank and more.

Chris & Ronnie will be touring as the Baltimore Bass Connection over summer with Amanda Blank and solo with sets at Falls Festival (VIC & TAS), Southbound (WA), and other venues across the country.

These days it seems like it ain’t no summer festival season without a Girl Talk party. So in the name of keeping up tradition, Girl Talk returns to Australia for Big Day Out Festivals around the country this January and has just now announced Sydney and Melbourne side shows.
