You and your readers may be interested in a book I have just completed called "Laughing at the King."It was published by Carcanet Press on 27th August and in it I introduce a selection of poetry by Peter Pindar, the 18th century political satirist. He was the doctor from Fowey -Dr John Wolcot- who discovered John Opie the ... See Morepainter -The Cornish Wonder-and took him to London where they both became famous, Opie for his marvellous portraits, and Wolcot for his funny poems about King George the Third.
