Inside MusiCast The Groovemeister, Mike Porcaro. I took this photo at a Toto gig at the Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania on June 30, 2006. I love watching Mikey lay down the groove. All you have to do is watch his face when he's playing to get it: the groove is written all over it. (Rick)

IMC DVD For The Weekend: Kevyn Lettau & Friends - In Concert
Jazz vocalist Kevyn Lettau is joined by Yellowjackets pianist/founder Russell Ferrante, bassist Jerry Watts, and drummer Michael Shapiro. Video directed by Adam Arkin. This inspired outing showcases Kevyn at her best----an engaging mix of brazilian-tinged vo...cals, beboppin' vocalese, and a unique southern california outlook. Not to be missed is her fine vocalese on the Yellowjackets' fiery "Out Of Town" --- watching her go mano a mano with Russell is pure joy and fun. BUY THIS DVD!

IMC Album Of The Day: “Koinonia” Koinonia
Titled after a Greek word used in the Bible meaning “intimate fellowship” Koinonia was a masterful jazz/funk fusion band that was formed in 1980 by Bassist Abraham Laboriel, Drummer Bill Maxwell, Guitarist Dean Parks, Percussionist Alex Acuna with John Phillips on woodwinds, Had...ley Hockensmith on guitar & Harlan Rogers on keyboards -- Justo Almario & Chester Thompson would replace departing members as time went on and the band established a large following in Scandinavia and Western Europe. Their fourth album in 1989 was their last attempt to break through in the U.S. by adding songs with vocals to their catalog. Laboriel, Almario, Maxwell, & Rogers were joined by singer/songwriter/keyboardist Lou Pardini, who had won a Grammy for composing “Just To See Her” for Smokey Robinson. Together they created a fantastic collection of songs, both instrumental and with vocals that had something for everybody -- The music radiates Latin, R&B, Jazz & Pop ingredients. The passionate performances are augmented by guests Michael Landau on guitars, Michael Fisher on percussion and w/Dean Parks back in the fold for “We’re All In This Together”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb0nnSI4X Lk Most of the members of Koinonia would return to session work after the band dissolved in 1991. This is a tough CD to find but well worth the effort/price when it’s discovered, as are all the other albums from this incredible group of musicians. You can hear sound samples here: http://www.amazon.com/Koinonia/dp/B00000 34C0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1261 110783&sr=8-1
I also strongly suggest their instrumental greatest hits album, “Pilgrim’s Progression” that is available for download on Amazon & iTunes.
