Institute for Humane Education As we're celebrating freedom and independence here in the U.S. this weekend, let's remember all those (human and nonhuman) who are still being exploited and oppressed, and celebrate the work that we're each doing in our lives to create a humane world for all.

Kim at 9:14am July 3
Yes and if you think about July 4 and what it stands for , how many native humans and animals were exploited and oppressed so that Europeans could settle here and have their 'freedoms"?

Institute for Humane Education Good Monday! We're back from a weekend of speaking about humane education at various conferences and are ready to inspire more people to make choices that do the most good and least harm for all people, animals and the earth. What has you fired up this week?

Thanks, Tina, for your comments. I used to do that very thing. I think we do that in a lot of arenas - see something done and just assume that's how it's done and copy it. Thank goodness for learning to think more critically about the world and the choices we make in it :)

Even "green" fireworks frighten animals. The pounds are full of dogs on July 5 who panicked and bolted out of fear of the noise. Please, NO FIREWORKS, period!
