2009 GAME DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE SUMMARY
March 23-27, 2009 marked the IASIG's 14th appearance at the show. As has been customary in recent years, the IASIG hosted two events: a party March 25 to help audio professionals get to know one another, share ideas and build new relationships in the industry, and the Annual IASIG... Town Hall Meeting. This year's event sponsors included fMod and Dolby and the IASIG thanks these organizations again for their support and participation. The IASIG is proud to say that the standing-room only party went over the number of guests we had planned for and was a great success. In fact, the Steering Committee has decided that the IASIG have outgrown the previous venue, and we will be looking to host a larger event in 2010.
14th ANNUAL IASIG TOWN HALL MEETING
Attendance was also high in This year's Annual IASIG Town Hall Meeting, which saw the number of attendees more than double from last year. As significant as the recent advances in iXMF have been, it was clear that audio education is on the minds of GDC attendees and they came to the IASIG to be a part of the action. The number of educators attending GDC has risen steadily over the last few years and more schools are looking to add audio courses to their curricula. The IASIG Education Working Group unveiled a draft of their curricula for game audio education and several educational institutions joined the IASIG on the spot at the town hall.
