We're also excited to hear that PBS received 41 nominations, more than any other network. Congratulations to all our filmmakers and all the nominated programs!

This past March, 142 filmmakers from 15 countries set off to make a documentary in 5 days. They were assigned a documentary genre (character study, music, social issue, etc.) along with the themes of "Hope and/or Fear." The winners premiered at the Ho...t Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto in May. The result was an exhilarating five days for the filmmakers, and, as the films reveal, a joy for the audiences at Hot Docs and beyond. This special showcase includes all of the Seattle-area films plus a few of the international winners.

International Documentary Challenge Presenting the Doc Challenge winners at Hot Docs in Toronto on Saturday night at 9:30pm!

International Documentary Challenge During March 5th-9th, 142 filmmakers from 15 countries made short non-fiction films with the assigned theme of "Hope and/or Fear." The judging process is underway and the 12 finalists will screen at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival on May 9, 2009 at 9:30pm where the winners will be announced.
