We’ve just put the finishing touches to our new mountain biking holiday, the Speyside mtb whisky holiday, based
in the Spey valley, near Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands.
The trip takes place during the Spirit of Speyside whisky festival and offers you fantastic mountain biking in the iconic landscape of the Highlands of Scotland with the opportunity to tour the world-famous Speyside whisky distilleries, sampling their finest malts along the way.
The mountains and glens of Speyside provide the perfect terrain for excellent mountain biking, as well as the pure, clean water required to make some of the world’s most sought-after whiskies.
With your morning spent exploring the delights of the local trails, followed by a dram or two in the afternoon, this Highland holiday is a winning combination.
If this tickles your taste buds, then contact us for further information. Slàinte!

This month has seen the first snow fall of the winter at Highlands and Islands Adventures basecamp, and that

Are you talking to me?
can only mean one thing, full length waterproofs and waterproof gloves!
This weather really does make for fantastic mountain biking and pictures, because the trails around here are around sea level, so no snow, then the snow capped hills rise up in the background, stunning! Cue my favourite picture of the past few years.
Also we have finished putting together our mountain biking holidays for 2010, which include a Torridon and Fort William and Cairngorm holidays. We seem to have launched our Fort William and Cairngorms holiday just on time, as MBR magazine have just voted one of the routes we ride on this holiday “The best trail of the year”, so why not join us on the holiday to see what all the fuss is about!?
So, it may be cold out there, but as they say at MBR magazine
“Just get out and ride”
Euan

Well, despite the fact that it’s a really lovely day here and much of the rest of the country is suffering from severe autumn weather, I resisted the temptation to go out and ride and have put bike maintenance to the top of the priority list. And not before time. My poor bikes are looking seriously neglected after a good season out on the Highland (and Sardinian) trails, and a lot of time recently has been devoted to planning for next year, rather than tidying up from this year.
So, I’m hidden away in the workshop, tongue sticking out the corner of my mouth, systematically taking bike bits apart for some TLC before systematically putting it all back together again. We pretend it’s a hardship, but we love it really!
We’re also re-developing the Highlands and Islands Adventures website and will keep you posted on progress. If you’ve any suggestions for changes you’d like us to make to the website, just drop us an email.
