The UI Carver College of Medicine is bringing its Mini Medical School Program to sunny California! Our Mini Medical School is a free program designed for anyone who is interested in the scientific basis of health and disease. Participants can have but do not need a science background to attend. Dr. Keith Carter, Chai...r of the Department of Opthalmology, will be presenting on topics in ophthalmology. CME credit is not available for this program. Last year, more than 1,800 Iowans died from cancers of the lung and bronchus. The incidence rates of lung cancers are on the rise—and it’s not all about smoking. In addition, the lifetime risk of esophageal cancer in the United States is 1 in 200.
