To Mohamed - Although Israel was declared a state in 1948, Israel has been the homeland to, and settled by Jews for thousands of years. For a history of wine in pre-state Israel, please see http://www.israelwines.co.il/ArticlesEng/Article.asp?ArticleID=720&CategoryID=87

Mohamed, try diagramming the sentence. The story of Israel's INDUSTRY is what started in the 19th century (not Israel), and Carmel DID in fact begin in 1882. They just happened to precede the founding of the state, just as the American tobacco and cotton industries preceded the American revolution.

Guys , I am not trying to interfere politics in everything, and I assure to you that I respect quality wine what ever was the religion, nationality and race of it's producers ,however I believe that claiming that :
"the story of Israel's modern wine industry starts in the late 19th century, and Israel's first international wine brand of Carmel in 1882"

Is quit a wrong historical fact since the state of Israel is founded in1948.

What don't you know about Israeli wine
