Alternatives’ Annual Meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 3, at the Woman’s Community Building (corner of Seneca and Cayuga Streets). The Meeting will start at 6:00 with dinner catered by Tio Tomas. Following dinner there will be a brief meeting, then awards will be presented for the Jeff Furman Award for Social... Responsibility, Volunteer of the Year, and Student Credit Union Volunteer of the Year.
Alternatives will then host a panel discussion on the current economic climate in the Tompkins County area, co-hosted by Kathy Schlather, Executive Director of the Human Services Coalition, and Karl Graham, Director of Community Relations and Development for Alternatives. The panel will speak to local access to resources for those who are facing a greater need, as well as highlight members of Alternatives who have taken part in programs with the Credit Union that has furthered their career or savings plan.
At the end of the meeting, Alternatives will be kick-starting a campaign called “Pay It Forward,” where they will give out $10 to members attending the Annual Meeting, to then be donated to a local person, family or non-profit organization in need. Members will document their Pay It Forward story by video, pictures or essay, and a grand prize winner will be selected. An additional $500 will be then be donated to the winner’s Pay It Forward recipient.
