Check out this week's Challenge: Microwave Communications Microwave communication towers can penetrate almost any weather, but the sending and receiving cones must be able to see each other. No obstructions are allowed because the signal canno...t bend like radio waves do. It is 40 miles across Lake Ontario between tower cones located in Toronto and Niagara Falls, and the diameter of the earth is 7,918 miles.
