MUSICAL STYLE:: This man has it all. A consummate musician, Duard first caught the eye of One Foot Groove
in 2006 with his beautifully crafted, gentler ambient music. A sense of musicality and a deft touch is clearly
evident in his tracks from this time, and his debut album, Snapshots, is a testament to his skill.
He has since branched out into a wider variety of electronica, and is currently producing full-on trance too.
His musical taste covers everything from rock through to dance music and this general love for the art form is
obvious in his work.
BACKGROUND: Born and raised in Stellenbosch, Duard started his professional career in 1999 in a grunge /
nu metal band called Picture This. At around the same time, he took part in a DJing course at the local radio
station, MFM 92.6.
In 2002, at the end of the band’s career, Duard switched focus to computer-based music. He honed his skills
through the tutelage of Gerhard Olivier, better known as Lost & Found, and it was during this time that he
started exploring the various forms of electronica, including ambient music.
He also gained further expertise by attending a course to obtain a diploma in Sound Engineering in 2005,
which also marked his entry into the playing arena.
Duard has collaborated with various artists, including the South African / Taiwanese electronica artist, MoShang.
In 2007, he also collaborated with, Taiwanese DJ, Dragon.
He is currently working individually with Louis Esterhuizen,Karlien van der Walt,Dylan (NoiseAnomalie) Reeves,Thys Esterhuysen and Fourie (Drake Equation) Oosthuizen who feature on different tracks.
Karlien, Louis and Duard form the electronic band, Hadalzone. Louis occasionally plays live guitar along Duard in his solo performances.
