In the last federal election voters in the riding of St. John's East sent a clear message – that the broken promises of Stephen Harper are not acceptable to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador and the policies of Stephen Harper and his government are not right for our province and our families.
As the Member of Parliament for St. John's East, I will continue to do my part to hold the Harper minority government to account. We know it is time for real action on climate change, it is time to restore arts funding arbitrarily cut by the Conservatives and it is time to institute full pay equity for women in the public service.
Concerns about fair and equal access to education, affordable housing and the rapidly changing economic situation, in particular, are vital issues for St. John’s East residents. As your Member of Parliament, it is a pleasure to serve you and work with Jack Layton and the New Democrats to ensure these and all matters of special concern to Newfoundland and Labrador receive Ottawa's full attention.
