Back in 1996, I ran for Congress as a Republican. In that election I made what many people considered a radical and controversial decision – I endorsed Dean Barkley in his race against Rudy Boschwitz and Paul Wellstone.

To me, it wasn’t a difficult or controversial decision. Dean Barkley was ...the only candidate with the courage to honestly deal with what was then a $4 trillion national debt.

Today, Dean Barkley is an even more obvious choice for U.S. Senate and that is why I am proudly supporting him and invite you to do the same (see senatorbarkley.com).

I truly believe that one person can make a difference. When Minnesota sends the first Independence Party senator to Washington, the entire political landscape will have shifted. For the first time in decades, with Dean’s election the scales of influence will have begun tilting back in favor of the people.
