Learn basic jewellery skills and techniques

During this weekend workshop students will learn bas...ic silver jewellery making skills such as sawing and filing, soldering and riveting, forming,
roller embossing and other surface texturing techniques. Projects will
include the design and production of a pendant piece and a silver ring.
Students will then be guided through their own self-set project where they will design and make a piece of the own choice. This could be a set of earrings, cufflinks or even a brooch. No prior experience is required. Small classes ensure you receive personal attention.

A timely and much anticipated survey of the creative life of an important Indigenous artist. Based m...ostly at Ernabella on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjajara Lands in South Australia, Nyukana (Daisy) Baker has spent over half a century making exquisiteobjects. Baker is an imaginative and tireless innovator who has acquired many skills. She has been central to the development of the Ernabella artistic style that has been influential across other Western Desert art movements. This exhibition includes works drawn from her entire career, including batiks, paintings, ceramics, floor rugs, prints, childhood drawings, wood carving, basketry and bead work.

Anodising is the process of colouring aluminium and titanium using an electro-chemical process. In this course you will learn safe and simple techniques for working with and
colouring titanium and aluminium. This course will focus on the production of jewellery and objects in anodised aluminium. During this 7-week cours...e you will be introduced to a broad range of techniques and skills. In addition to anodising you will learn basic jewellery making techniques and be guided through the process of sawing, filing, finishing, forming, joining and etching. Projects will include the design and production of numerous pieces of both wearable jewellery and small-scale objects.

Etching is the process of using acid to cut recessed patterns, images and designs into the surface of metal. In this course you will learn to transfer images and patterns that you have made or selected onto the ...surface of silver. Over this two-day intensive weekend workshop, participants will make a custom designed surface-etched silver ring and pendant. You will also produce several test samples in aluminium that can be turned into wearable pieces and more. You will learn the simple process of using acid to etch decorative patterns into silver and aluminium in a professional and safe environment. Beginners will also learn basic silver jewellery making techniques and be guided through the process of sawing, filing, finishing, forming and soldering. Those with more experience will be assisted in their self-directed projects with a focus on design development.
