- I am stepping into the political ring because I am convinced that sending one more career politican to Washington DC is not going to turn around the direction of our country. That has been done too many times with the same result every time. This has been a long prayer journey for me and my family.
Why Run for the United States Congress?
The Constitution matters. This is a nation of laws, not leaders. Leaders do not live forever, the law should. We must get back to our foundation; not our personal preferences (from either political party).
Spending is out of control, way out of control. We must stop spending our children’s money. Our grandparents would have never spent our money to make themselves happy.
We are a country drifting farther and farther away from our moral core.
The way we tax matters and how much we tax matters. Families and businesses are struggling under our tax burden and our tax code.
No one in Washington DC seems to understand the difference between the government working for the people and the people working for the government. I want to change that. I do not think the issues in Washington D.C. can be solved by sending another life-long politician. We need a new voice.
Ultimately, after months of prayer, I believe this is what I must do.

After years of serving thousands of Oklahoma families of teenagers through Falls Creek, it is time to serve all Central Oklahoma families in Congress. Family is important to me. For seventeen years I have enjoyed a great marriage to my bride, Cindy. We have two beautiful daughters, Hannah (12) and Jordan (9). We don’t just talk about family, we live it. There are plenty of things that distract marriages and families, our government should not be one of them.
Total strangers in Washington D.C. are trying to define what is right and wrong for my family. I don’t think they are bad or evil people, in fact I think they are hard working and well meaning. The problem is not that they are bad; they are strangers to my family and should not have authority over my family. They are telling me how to teach my children, live my life, drive my car, spend my money, etc. I do not know what is best for them and they do not know what is best for me. Someone needs to go to Washington and tell those nice bureaucrats to take care of their family so we can take care of ours. If you will help me, I will pass on this message for your family.
In 1995 I joined the staff of Falls Creek and in the fall of 1996 I became the Director of the Falls Creek Summer Youth Camp. Falls Creek is the largest youth camp in America with more than 50,000 students and adults attending camp each summer from across Oklahoma. I have served for two decades with teenagers and their families through some of the most difficult issues of our day. I also speak extensively across the state to teenagers and adults. I have coordinated mission and community service projects in Belize, Malawi, England, Wales, Germany as well as many areas of Oklahoma.
I have been an active proponent in the pro-life and abstinence education conversation in Oklahoma. In 1998, I organized a major emphasis among the Oklahoma leadership for abstinence education, meeting with members of the Oklahoma House, Senate and Governor Frank Keating. I am also a member of the Heritage Foundation and the NRA. I enjoy hanging out with my wife and two daughters, sport shooting and reading.
Family Background: My mom was a public school librarian and her parents owned and operated a small dry cleaning business. My Dad and paternal grandparents were dairy farmers near the Texas / Oklahoma border. My stepfather was in the US Navy and a career employee of AC Delco, the parts division of General Motors. Cindy’s family has been in Oklahoma since statehood.
