Mary Ritter Bast Good job, Alafair! I finished Angel's Tip last night - tried not to race through it but it was so compelling I read it in two nights. Great character development (I feel like I know them), and in particularl, I appreciate your sensitivity about the women who were murdered.

Nancy Heuer-Evans

Nancy Heuer-Evans I think it's a rare and wondrous thing to write books that stimulate strangers to log into a site and share their thoughts. Your books, Mr. Burke, have transported me through space and time and culture on many sleepless nights. The language thrills my eyes and ears and heart---there are times when I have to stop and re...-read a passage aloud to my husband so he can hear the melody of it. There's a grace to the decay, an art to the violence and an overriding compassion for the broken people that sings through your work and resonates in my soul. Each time I've picked up a novel of yours, I feel like I'm getting to go on a (possibly perilous and yet amazing) vacation with my very best friend. How odd is must be for you to have your readers excavate through your writings and feel like they know you as a result. Please don't stop doing what you do--it reaffirms my faith that fiction is transformative when it's done well, and that really good writers actually change our lives.

Mary Ritter Bast Wow, so Alifair is real! To James Lee, I'm sure you know this and have been told it a million times, but I'll say it anyway: Your writing is equal to or better than any novelist today and you've raised the mystery genre to an art. To Alifair, I'll look forward to reading your work.

Roger Hi, Mr Burke- I'm new to your work. I read Jolie Blon's Bounce last year, and was just struck dumb by the whole thing. Now am reading Crusader's Cross. You do great work. Keep doing what you do!

Linda Bohach Bellisario I still want to know if the ham and onion sandwich is a cold or hot sandwich and do you eat them or just Dave Robicheaux eats them?

Just ham and onion on bread, cold. No one eats them more than Dave does.

Jen Emery

Jen Emery I
found your work, quite by accident, at the library one day, and after
reading one book, I spent the next 6 weeks devouring your works with
the urgency of one who has reunited with a long, lost love, and
attempts to make up for for the irretrievable years with an over
abundance of obsessive dedication bordering on the pat...hological. I
don't know how I've missed you.
I am a rather distinctly dark person, and it was quite liberating to
get to know your fictional character, Dave. Your descriptive writing,
from my perspective bordered on brilliance.

Jen Emery I have always secretly
wished to write, and reading your work serves to remind me how
completely inadequate my work would be, so thank you for reminding me
how crappy my writing is by being so capable. The level of your skill
seems so high, one wonders why you chose the genre you did? You are so
obviously capable of anythin...g, why mystery fiction? Thank you, for the
biggest surprise of the year, and 6 weeks of complete happiness, and
upset, and anger, and all the emotions an author of your ability allows
the reader to experience. Thank you.

Betsy Hirschburg

Betsy Hirschburg I love your books,James and I've read them all.
As someone who lived in NU OYUNS for many years,it drives me nuts that no one ever gets the accent right, same with Southwestern La. I was disappointed when I bought one of your Audio books and the person reading sounded like they were from Mississippi.
Oh well.Did you go to USL? Betsy Hirschburg
