Hey there fashionistas! There is a great new show on Bravo called “The Fashion Show” and American InterContinental University London 2008 graduate James-Paul Ancheta is a contestant! Please show your support and allow other friends to show James-Paul that we are all rooting for him.
“The Fashion Show” gives designers a once in a lifetime opportunity to put their creative skills to the test for the chance to win $125,000 and have their designs sold on the retail market. The designers must complete two challenges each week: the Harper’s Bazaar Mini Challenge, judged by the magazine's Special Projects Director Laura Brown, and the elimination challenge. Internationally acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi, performer and actress Kelly Rowland and Fern Mallis, senior vice president of IMG Fashion serve as judges, eliminating one designer each week. Ultimately, viewers will vote to determine the winning designer, who will be unveiled at NY Fashion Week in September 2009, so make sure to show your support for James-Paul!
James-Paul got off to a promising start in the weekly competition by winning the first-week’s fashion challenge against 14 other aspiring designers. He is the second AIU London student to compete on a Bravo fashion competition reality show. Christian Siriano, also a former student of AIU London, won the 2008 “Project Runway” competition.
James-Paul has known since he was 8-years-old that he wanted to be a designer. He started his design education at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising of Los Angeles where he received his associate degree. After completing his associate degree James-Paul moved to London and attended American InterContinental University London where he began to draw inspiration from the 1920s Bauhaus Movement. His designs reflect the simple geometric shapes of the movement that can’t be found in pattern books.
James-Paul honed his design skills with one of the most innovative designers today, Vivienne Westwood, known around the world for her influential and inventive designs. There he continued to develop his trademark creative and experimental style.
We created this page as place to send James-Paul encouragement and discuss the show, so feel free to post to the wall and start a discussion!
Make sure not to miss “The Fashion Show” on Bravo Thursday s at 10/9 central.
