Jane Dyer for Congress 2008
Clemson alumna Jane Dyer (Class of ’81), the Democratic Party challenger taking on Republican Rep. Gresham Barrett for the Third District seat in Congress, will speak and answer audience questions at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Self Auditorium of the Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson University.
Jane DyerDyer says she repre...sents the views of the working people of South Carolina. “We can change the direction of our country. All of our voices need to be heard in Washington. There are many problems that face us today, including the loss of jobs, loss of people’s homes, loss of health care and the high costs of gas, food, medicine and a war with no end in sight. To reverse these trends we must eliminate our dependence on foreign oil, dramatically increase the number of graduates in our school system and bring quality jobs into our communities. Getting the economy back on track, making health care affordable to all Americans and bringing our troops home are my top priorities.”
Dyer is a mother and wife, former U.S. Air Force pilot and current flight captain for FedEx. She graduated from Easley High School in Pickens County and earned her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University. Dyer received an Air Force ROTC scholarship and was selected as Clemson’s Group Commander.
