Hope Institute of Uganda is a faith-based ministry that works with people from all walks of life. The Institute was founded in 2007 in memory of Dr. Rebecca Isiko, who died of Lou Gehrig’s disease at age 39.

HI partners with the most disadvantaged peoples in Uganda: orphans, people displaced by civil war, and the extrem...ely poor who cannot afford the basics of life. HI now has affiliates in the USA, UK and Uganda.

80% of the proceeds from the sale of these items goes to Uganda to help with education, health care and economic development. 20% is used for operating costs.

Unique sounds and creative thinking will be showcased when Steven Johnson, Janesville, performs music on "Robot Instrument," his original invention.

Johnson is also displaying other handmade instruments throughout the month of October in the library's exhibit cases near the skylight and the art wall. Using a combination... of standard household materials and new parts, his creations include a "Martian violin," lyre, hammer harp, dulcimer, mandolin, flute, and a miniature violin, among others. Some pieces are decorated with handpainted embellishments. Case exhibits may be viewed during all library hours.Read More
