Christine Nguyen Hi Jasmine,

Any super dooper tips for preventing racoon/panda eyes on a bright sunny day? especially for ceremony? I shoot in manual, but i absolutely hate bright sun.
Like you, I am not a fan of flash, but is that the only option? Help plsss.... =/

I'm sure J* has some other amazing way, but I would suggest a reflector or light modifier.

I also don't like flash and I've found ways around it for the most part. Choose places with good lighting that isn't so harsh.

I found a light modifier to be useful. One side was for a warm tone and the other was cool. I used warm and was very pleased with the turnout. It made quite a difference in my opinion! Mine was from Hanson Fong -- http://www.hansonfong.com/Hanson_Photography/Products.html (the reversible bounce card)... Read More

I hope I helped somewhat! :)

Jasmine has some FAQ posts on her blog that'll give you just the information you're looking for-- she lists her current kit and the kit she had when she was just starting.

Robbie Hickman j*..need some motivation. quit the day job a few months ago to do the photog thingy fulltime. wedding bookings were going great initially (aside from a wkend here & there, spring, summer are almost booked) but now they've dropped to a standstill. clients make appts then no shows. suggestions to keep from going back to the day job?

Tosha Francis

Tosha Francis Hey jasmine. Quick one. Ai servo or ai focus???

Kathryn Speyer
Kathryn Speyer
I've heard that AI focus is one of the less reliable "auto" features on Canon cameras. My best experience has been with using servo when I'm shooting moving subjects and one-shot for still subjects. I think AI focus hunts around more than servo causing more missed shots on moving subjects, but they really need to be moving pretty fast for it to make a huge difference.

Yeehaw! I got my boots in Mexico. They're my most favorite things ever!
I, however, would wait until you're in Texas to buy a pair because is any place in the country does cowboy boots, it's Texas! ;)

Lorrie Osterode Prothero Great job last night. Enjoyed hearing your "story" of Netmaking vs Networking path. One One of a few speakers who's tangents pull us in rather than lose us. ;) You do a great job making us feel like were listing to a friend talk to us rather than just a presentation.

quick question (great smug mug by the way tonight!) was wondering how much direction you give your clients during shoots? I am not talking the wonderful candid photos you get, but the "editorial" (for lack of a better term) ones. They come out beautiful, but without looking to posed. But especially in some of these pic...s, I don't see people naturally sitting with their legs a certain way, or leaning a certain way etc. In those cases, are you even posing them down to their feet and then just letting them go, or do you just say- sit here, and that's how they are naturally sitting, standing etc. ? -whoa long question (not so quick after all!) Thanks :)Read More

hi brittany! yes, i'm coaching my clients to sit, stand, lean, etc in a certain way for the editorial-ish shots. i have what i want in my head, so i just try to explain what i want them to do, as well as show them what i want them to do. i'll be blogging more about this in the future, so keep your eyes peeled! :)

Angel Canary
Hi Jasmine, any advice for photographers and artists like myself that would like to get into the post processing end of the business for other photographers? I live in the sticks, and when I searched online, I couldn't find anything. I have no idea what to even charge. I can usually pop out a few thousand photos in ...2 days, so I thought it would be something to look into. If you don't know, that's okay. =)Read More

Thank you!! I am fairly new at the blog thing ( www.angelcanaryblog.com/blog ) , and just revamped (started to) my website www.iheartphotoart.com. I can easily create a website for this, it's just knowing how much to charge, what it involves, etc. I have always been so busy working I have only the last few months began to explore online and networking, etc. Thanks again, wish me luck.

Donna Okay J*, you challenged us to make certain we had a self portrait on our site, so after a photosession yesterday, I posed (which I hated doing!) set the timer...and here it is...I'm a good girl, I do as I'm asked ;-)~~

Ayesha Riaz

Ayesha Riaz Jasmine i love your work you are not noticed ver here in the uk but i do can i ask you how you shoot wide oped from a distance and get sharp images i can get mega sharp images at 1.8 tight in but the moment i go to full lengh of a person shoot it looses that sharpness any ideas?

i think it's natural to work harder and maintaining focus from a distance, but just fire off a few frames quickly and refocus while doing so (focus, shoot...focus, shoot...etc) and you're bound to get a nice, focused photo! :)
hope this helps!
