As you all are aware, His Holiness Jayapataka Swami is recovering from a stroke. By his guidance over the last 18 years, this festival has grown wonderfully. We were prepared for him not to attend this year. But, he is the embodiment of determination to service Srila Prabhupada in any condition. He has announced that h...e will attend the festival this year. His Holiness said, "I have not missed a Panihati festival yet, and I don't plan on missing one now!"
The festival will be held on the first weekend of June. Friday June 5th will feature a 24hr kirtan in honor of HG Hari Kirtan das (Harish) who passed away recently. Saturday, June 6th, we will have our Rathayatra festival. The parade route will begin and end at our temple grounds. We will pull Sri Ratha on a 2 hour journey throughout our temple neighborhood. Sunday, June 7th, we will celebrate the Chip Rice Festival. Throughout the festival there will be musical performances, dances, drama, childrens play center, kirtan, prasadam, and lots of wonderful devotee association.
So, mark your calendar and come on down(or up for the Florida folks!) for the 2009 Panihati Festival at ISKCON Atlanta.
