Jenell and the Yets started out as a girl and a guitar and have since become a strong trio. Jenell has been singing and songwriting since she saved up eighty bucks and bought herself a guitar at the age of twelve. Unfortunately, Jenell's crippling shyness robbed audiences of her talents for six long years, until 2005, when she made her debut at Thunderson Force, during the monthly Third Friday Event in Millville, New Jersey.
Since then, Jenell has become an attraction at open mics across South Jersey, performing selection from her songbook of over 40 original tunes. She later expanded her ongoing tour to include college events in West Chester, PA, where performances were broadcast live by WCUR 91.7FM. For a time, she could be seen every other week at Border's Bookstore in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but right now you can catch her act as a regular feature of Millville's Third Friday Event. She was also named a featured player by the Coffee House Players.
However, Jenell has since gained a band. Jenell and the Yets came together in April of 2007 with Jamie McCarthy on bass and Nathan Terry on drums. The band recorded their first full album, titled, “Localized Phenomenon” at bliXYZ studios in Cinnaminson, NJ, which was released December 15, 2007. (http://www.myspace.com/bliXYZ)
The band has since played many shows, including some which were at Memories Lounge, The Bus Stop Café, County College, Fuel House Coffee Co., Studio Luloo, the Oar House, Newfield Park, Bogart’s Coffee Bar, and Revelation Records and Novelty Store.
Jenell and the Yet's fun, sincere songs touch audiences in remarkably personal ways. "Stay Awhile," is a personal favorite of Dale Pantalione, singer/songwriter of Liquid Eclipse, who says it takes him back to a place in his own life. He is not alone in his belief that Jenell is "possibly one of the most talented artists in the area." Another song, "Zoee and Gizmo", is under consideration for use in a film soundtrack by Misplaced Planet Production, Los Angeles, CA.
