The Roman world at that time was required to return to their town of origin to pay taxes. This speaks of the "sin debt" from which Christ came to deliver us. Our deliverance is as big as the size of our sin. We were born a sinner. Mary was "delivered" of a baby; she was "great" with child. Our sin is great and we carry it just like an extra person. Only Jesus can deliver us from our sin. The angel told the shepherds of a "sign". The sign is this: God became a child when He came from Heaven to earth; if you want to get from earth to Heaven, you must become like a child.

Rev. Dave Schneider's examination of the scriptures regarding the "virgin birth" of Jesus Christ was our topic tonight. It was spoken of in Luke Chapter1 and Matthew Chapter 1 as well as prophesied in Isaiah 7:14 and Genesis 3:15. Paul refers to the virgin birth in Gal. 4:4. Jesus had to be born of a virgin so that he could be sinless, but also so that he could be human. It was part of the eternal plan of redemption.
