Jetboil Fuel canisters are recyclable! "How can this be?", you may ask. Fuel is a HAZMAT item, so you can't just toss a half-empty canister into the recycling bin. Here is what you have to do:
Get yourself to a flame- and spark-free area outside.
Use up all the fuel in your canister by running the stove until the flame dies o...ut. Afterward, you can hold the can up to your ear and shake to make double-sure it's empty; if you don't hear liquid sloshing around, you should be good.
Use a "church key" (a pointy-ended can opener) to puncture the bottom.
This technique works for any old can- deodorant, cooking spray... People are generally worried about puncturing a pressurized can, imaging that they will blow themselves up. When you puncture a full can, things can get tense, as the contents race out of the whole. Avoid this.

How about a can you could actually recycle? Now there's a concept. And you wouldn't have to trash them.

Can I trade my slightly old, slightly melted, slightly stained, only used on Sunday by an old lady in church cover for one of those awesome new ones?

What's different about Flash, you ask? Besides the exciting color array, there is a color-changing heat indicator window in the cozy, a stabilizer tripod is included, the burner is solid stainless steel (no mesh disc in the center) and the igniter is inside the burner head for extra protection.

Jetboil We had a fun event at this last trade show, with celebrity athletes Jeremy Collins, Malcolm Daly and Allison Woods competing to come up with the best recipe in their Jetboil FLASH stoves.

Some of our favorite editor friends, Andrew Bisharat of Rock & Ice, Dan Nelson of several pubs, including the Seattle Times, and Will... Reitveld of Backpacking Light, braved it and judged the three contestants recipes in a taste-off.

It was close, but Allison Woods of Washington Trails Association took the grand prize
