These issues are more complex than you make them out to be for your simple-minded citizens. If you want to reverse deficit spending, sending more troops to Afghanistan is the asbolute worst (hypocritical) way to do it! Not to mention that tax breaks for small businesses don't do anything to help them combat the monopolized markets. You have all the... See More power to stop Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and all those companies from putting little people out of business, and you're going to solve that with tax breaks? Why not tax the larger corporations, and DE-regulate the ridiculous beuracracy for small businesses. They can barely afford to keep their doors open much less pay the government to allow them to operate legally. New Era and Goodrich are large corporations with unions, not small businesses!!! Why would you even mention them in the same breath?

One last thing, where was your concern for small businesses regarding healthcare costs? There have been plenty of healthcare reform issues brought to the House of Represenatives to allow small businesses to file for the same deductions large corporations get for providing their employees with healthcare. You've never mentioned anything about that to your citizens during the healthcare debate.

How can you say "God bless you", implying that you believe in God, and not love the people you are called to love? Sheila, I'm not bashing you, but I am assuming that you are a respectable, God-fearing American woman. You claim to be part of "the majority". Why is it such a bad thing that we give these human beings a fair trial? If we have afforded ourselves the power to judge in the first place, why then, if we are to love our enemies, should we not at least offer them a fair trial.

I just thought of this, maybe you could also use how the VA, a goverment ran health care system keeps messing up our veterans health care and use that as tool or example at to what the rest of the health care will end up like. I am retired army and worked at the VA. I know it is messed up.

I think our current administration is taking us down a path thay is going to take years to recover from. I am a retired Army veteranwit 23.5 years active duty from 1979 to 2002. I would not want to be in the service with our current Commander in Chief.

This is not a matter of affordability, this is a matter of prioritizing spending. The U.S. just gave a 6.6 BILLION DOLLAR HANDOUT to Pakistan, and according to Pentagon Spokesman Lt. Col. Mark Wright, "We don't have a mechanism for tracking the money after we have given it to them."

http://www.gazettetimes.com/news/world/article_b26b0e8f-3b5f-5b75-a3cb-c1e67243cc5d.html

The answer to your question "How are we going to pay for all this?" is to end the war in the middle east, bring our soldiers home, and start taking care of your own people.... See More

Geoffrey Anfield, thanks for bringing up what everyone else seems to be oblivious about...

Taxpayers in Alabama have so far paid - $4.8 billion for the IRAQ war (These statistics do not include costs for the war in Afghanistan)

$4.8 billion could have provided...

1,995,161 People with Health Care OR
3,533,464 Homes with Renewable Electricity OR
132,465 Public Safety Officers OR
92,479 Music and Arts Teachers OR
906,966 Scholarships for University Students OR
330 New Elementary Schools OR
58,058 Affordable Housing Units OR
5,007,394 Children with Health Care OR
743,203 Head Start Places for Children OR
96,245 Elementary School Teachers OR
77,853 Port Container Inspectors

http://www.mibazaar.com/costofiraqwar/#

I apologize to Bert for not having the statistics of how many cell phones or how much Cable TV could be provided if we end the war.

FORGET HEALTHCARE...

It would seem that your district including the ports of mobile could benefit from those 77,853 Port Container Inspectors, not to mention the Homeland Security provided by that government service.

What about Alabama's embarrassing rankings when it comes to basic education, scholarships, and higher education? You could provide over 2 million jobs in education with an end to our occupation in the middle east. Imagine what that could do for the state not only in terms of raising it's obvious lack of intelligence, but it's unemployment rate. Doesn't providing teachers with jobs and young people with a college education (without an education lottery) sound better than spending taxpayer dollars giving handouts to other countries?

If you're going to claim to be conservative and oppose wasteful spending, you should oppose the war. Anything less than that is hypocritical. If you support spending another penny in the middle east, then you're being dishonest to your people. I pray that you find the truth before you find God's judgement.
