Warm up by Walter.

Biography / Discography:

Studio whiz kid, DJ extraordinaire and co-owner of record label "DIEB AUDIO", John Dalagelis, has long been at his electronic musical passion, for more years than most DJs who are 10 years his senior. At the age of 28, J...ohn’s influences go way beyond the scope of any of his contemporaries. Born in USA and raised in Greece, John has meticulously honed his craft and is ready for his close-up.

John began a vast record collection of all kinds of electronic music and started DJing underground parties in 1993 inspired by the big names of the time. Orbital, F.S.O.L., LFO and some earlier synth pop groups like New Order & Kraftwerk, to name a few, were his early favorites at an age of 12 years old, when most of his friends were consumed with school & football. In 1994 he started hosting his own radio show which would eventually stream to far out areas of Greece on major Greek FM stations. His eclectic & dynamic sound would bring him toward the art of producing his own music in years to come.

In 1998 John decided to take the challenge further & entered the DMC DJ Championship in Greece at the ripe age of 17. After winning the state championship he took place in the finals. Against the odds he scratched and cut up 4th place, winning the accolades of the Greek music press, who called him the star of the night & best young dj. The industry took notice of this new wonderkid who was invited by Universal Trilogy (one of the leading Greek electronic dance acts of the time) to join them as warm-up DJ for their European appearances. John would continue to tour and build his sound in his home country, culminating in the gig of his life by being invited to play the opening slot on Orbital’s first ever tour of Greece in 2000. As if this man’s rap sheet wasn’t long enough, he also graduated from the Institute of Pasteur as a sound engineer, further increasing his experience and knowledge at such a young age.

In 2002 his brother “Nick” joined forces with John and the duo started producing music together after deciding to uproot and move to New York City. Setting up the Dalasounds studio and getting to work on their productions was priority number one. Quickly the Dalagelis brothers self released their first EP record in the USA, including two tracks, “Fat Oscar/God Is Great,” which gained praise from their intended targets. From this release, they became sought after by their favorite labels, which were after them for their remix touch. They did remixes for labels owned by Satoshi Tomiie, Dave Seaman & Chris Fortier to name a few. While having these great remixing successes, John joined Chris Fortier and his label (Fade records). Assisting Chris to run the label was not the only duty he got. John got busy with Chris in the studio as well, by producing, engineering, mixing, editing and recording all kind of projects. One of these was Chris Fortier’s Balance 007 compilation. Their 2nd single “Bend Up” was released by Italy’s Mo-do Recordings, which took the brothers even higher, with not only never-ending DJ support, but also successful chart rankings on several of the sales chart indicators from the USA & UK. Their extended vocal remix of Micah’s “Come From” was exclusively featured on Hernan Cattaneo’s Renaissance Masters 2 album. In 2005 their original production “Quiet (Steve is listening)” was one of the main features on Audio Therapy’s album “Across Borders,” and their alternative mix of it, entitled “Quiet (Stelios is watching),” was exclusively featured on Dave Seaman’s compilation “This is Audio Therapy.”

In 2006 "R2 Units Gone Wild" was released on Therapy Music (original mix was included on Audio Therapy’s Spring/Summer Collection CD) as well as “Utapau,” on Swift Records (original mix included on Gpal’s album Gpal 2). Also in their agenda was remixing Stel’s and Phatjak's "I Like Porno,” released on Baroque records. John was also responsible for a huge bulk of the production and engineering work on Stel's "This is Audiotherapy" CD mix which was an accompaniment to Dave Seaman's already classic installment. In 2007 “Feature music” was released by Presslab rec rising up to Number 1 for 2 weeks and staying on the top 50 chart of the Balance Promote Pool in North America for over 8 weeks, while John continued hitting the international circuit with gigs in North & Central America, Europe and Australia. In 2008 “Fabrique” was released on Omnis rec whith full support by Funk D Void, D Ramirez, Frank Mueller & Fra Soler Ferenc to name a few. Also going by the name DAS along with his partner Stel, “Rectum” was released on Dieb Audio, with remixes by Jamie Stevens, Chris Fortier and Hatzler. On March 2009, the much anticipated “Asio” track was released on Dieb Audio with remixes by legendary Ananda Project, Nacho Marco and Harada, gaining massive support by Sasha, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, Gabriel Ananda, Dubfire, Mark Knight and the list goes on. Finally, during the summer of 2009 John recorded, edited and produced Dave Seaman’s “Renaissance Master Series” compilation (released on September 29th 2009).

John Dalagelis

John Dalagelis We have delivered a knockout of sorts, and polished off this release with a stunning, slightly more peaktime mix courtesy of legendary house hero, Ananda project. Having produced and remixed classic records, and having conquered underground dancefloors to mainstream airwaves Chris Brann (as he's less commonly known), j...oins the Dieb fold with a top notch house workout of the highest order.

John Dalagelis We are proud to present another of our "homegrown" releases, this time from label honcho and studio rat extraordinaire, John Dalagelis. Not content with being one of the main creative forces and brains behind the Dieb "operation", John has found time to drop an absolute bomb of debut on the label here with an intricate..., intelligent and very funky piece of modern electronic house that is sure to cause commotion on many a dancefloor, for wide variety of DJ.

We have drafted in another of our German buddies, Harald Aufmuth, whom most will know as the always on form minimal/tech house hero Harada. His reputation for high quality studio productions (both original and remixed) has been well documented on a variety of many of the industry's top labels and they have been heavily supported by the world's top DJ's. In this instance, he creates a repetitive and hooky groove around the chord pattern, while engineering one of his signature, sparse-yet-functional rhythm arrangements.

In true Dieb fashion, we've gone all out on our selection of remixers once again, and first up is the inimitable Nacho Marco who brings his impeccable and renowned production skills on board to create an awesome deep house interpretation by layering the original chord stabs over an infectious bass groove.
