I have been to the headwaters of the mighty Missipp.. I crossed them with my daughter and husband, and to see where the waters run from there is amazing.. In my opinion everyone at some point in time should take a trip on the Missipp.. much life to see and learn from... Thanks John for giving more insight to others through your gifts... you are an AMAZING man, I hope some day our paths cross and I can thank you in person.

John Guider - The River Inside John and his boat arrived home safely in Nashville on Tuesday evening. He will be in Memphis for the opening reception of The River Inside exhibition on August 7th. The River Inside is currently on view at the Mississippi River Museum on Mud Island through Oct. 31. John Guider - The River Inside [Aug. 1, 2009] Adventure on the high seas! John made it through The Rigolets and into the Gulf today. A storm blew in quickly, his boat took on water and nearly capsized. John and the boat are safe tonight in a fishing village up a bayou west of Bay St.

While John was weathering the Gulf storm, another crisis was brewing in the driveways of Tennessee. Matt, John's son, discovered that John's car, the one he was planning to pick him up with, had a drained battery. He jumped the battery, and drove it around to charge it, later discovering that the battery was dead, and only capable of putting out 8V. In the dark of night Matt swapped the battery with the one in his Jeep, and John was back on schedule to be collected.

I am lucky to have Matt as a son. He picked me up at Bayou Caddy - not an easy place to find- at 4 in the morning and the extraction was perfect. After a few hours of sleep, we explored the coastline where I plan to sail next and then off to NOLA for beignets and coffee at the Cafe du Monde and a walk along the levee. For the first time in 2 months... See More, I didn't cringe when a late afternoon thunderstorm rolled over the magnificent river. John Harris will be proud to note that the boat drew as many positive comments perched on Matt's trailer as it did sitting in the water.
