"Down to Earth Concerts" is featuring three stellar Adirondack musicians John Kirk, Dan Berggren & Chris Shaw on Saturday, August 15th at 7:00 PM. These north country neighbors will be joined by Ann Downey as guest musician and singer. The concert will be a CD release celebration for their new CD, ‘North River, North W...oods’ and will be held at the Ndakinna Education Center, 23 Middle Grove Rd. in Greenfield Center, NY. NORTH RIVER, NORTH WOODS is a new collection of songs and traditional tunes relating to the northern region of the Hudson River. Dan Berggren has written several selections based on Adirondack neighbors and stories tied to the river. John Kirk sings traditional ballads and fiddles tunes played in the area since logging camp days. Chris Shaw is featured telling and singing extraordinary stories that have proportions as big as “the one that got away”. Guest musician and singer, Ann Downey, lived in North River, NY, as a child and will lilt the log driver’s waltz as well as providing excellent accompaniment on the upright bass. Ann now resides in Ottawa, Canada, and is known worldwide for her work with the folk trio, the Finest Kind. The CD comes wrapped in a package that shows off the incredible photography of Carl Heilman II.
Selections featured in the concert will have the combined interaction of talented musicians who are usually known for their individual appearances. The concert is for all ages and people are invited to come early to hike the wooded trails and see the beauty of the land and this nature center. It is located less than four miles from the center of Saratoga Springs, NY, Reservations and carpooling are encouraged.
