John Kline Late Saturday evening, the U.S. Senate voted in the dead of night for a health care experiment that will increase taxes, raise premiums, cut Medicare, and use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion. Today, the Republican National Committee released a video (link below) detailing the lowlights.

John Kline The Republican National Committee compiled a list of 10 things you should know about Sen. Harry Reid's government-run health care experiment. Included in the Senate bill are $493 billion in tax increases, an entitlement program one Democrat called a "Ponzi scheme," federal funding for abortions, and a new Medicare Commission of unelected bureaucrats who would ration care.

John Kline Today's Star Tribune asks the question: "Did Stimulus Money Go To 'Phantom' Districts in Minnesota?" The short answer is YES, according to the White House's own website, Recovery.gov.

Last weekend, the White House announced that an immigration reform bill could become law as early as next year. One of the President's senior advisors said the legislation would "create a pathway to citizenship" for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already in the U.S. I will continue to oppose amnesty because... of the principle of fairness and respect for the rule of law. The first action of those who would live in our country and contribute to our society should be to respect our laws.Read More

The Recovery.gov web site was established by the White House as part of its so-called stimulus bill "to foster greater accountability and transparency." Unfortunately, the Administration creates phony jobs in phony Congressional districts. For instance, the Administration reports that 35 jobs have been saved or created... as a result of $404,000 in stimulus spending in Minnesota's 57th Congressional district. The problem is THERE IS NO 57th Congressional district in Minnesota.Read More

And this administration wants to take over the private health care system in this country. John Kline Appearing on MSNBC today, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Florida Democrat, declared: "I am confident that the Stupak Amendment will not be in the final version of the bill - we will be working very hard to eliminate it." Every American who supports the long standing federal policy of barring federal tax dollars from supporting abortion should be concerned about what Congressional Democrats have in store.

As you may know, I voted against the Pelosi health care bill late Saturday evening. In fact, I would have voted against it twice if they would have let me. Since the Pelosi-Reid government takeover of health care was first introduced in July, Americans made their voices heard loud and clear. Unfortunately, the Democrat...s didn’t listen, and the consequences of a deficit-growing, job-killing, bureaucracy-creating takeover of health care will be devastating for our economy.Read More

The National Republican Congressional Committee released a new health care clock on www.NRCC.org, counting down the time until the official floor vote on the Pelosi government takeover of health care bill. According to the bipartisan “72-hour resolution,” all non-emergency legislation must be posted on the Internet at ...least 72 hours prior to consideration by the House. The countdown demonstrates that in order to finish reading the 1990-page bill in its entirety within the 72-hour time period, one must average reading a page of dense legislative language every two minutes.Read More

In effect, we are saying some Americans are more worthy of legal protection than others. That is both misguided and unconstitutional."Read More

This summer, Minnesotans, like most Americans, spoke out against the
Democrats' plan for a government takeover of health care. Even though
the President last year promised voters that health care reform would
be discussed out in the open, saying "we will have negotiations
televised on C-SPAN," a handful of Democrat leaders... are meeting behind
closed doors to finalize a government takeover of health care that
would be devastating for small businesses and working families. Americans deserve to know: What are they trying to hide?
