Do you purposefully schedule these things so that people with children or that work can't possibly attend? Why don't you schedule these things after 7:00 pm on a weeknight? Can't you stay up that late?

It was a great talk you and T. Boone Pickens delivered earlier over at Goodwin College! Great story and jokes about your visit with Boone to Augie and Ray's. Myself, I would have made him take at least one bite of a dog and a handful of fries before leaving. Anyway, I appreciate your insight into applications for natural gas. Thanks for your leadership here.

Hey, what a great deal for CT with the upcoming ARRA Weatherization funds. Lots of needy people need the program at both ends: to insulate their houses and to train for insulation jobs. Nice work, sir.

--BTW, at home, I replaced my failing 40 year-old oil boiler with a natural gas system after a heating oil receipt hit 5.00/gallon. Then and there I got radically nativist about my energy dollars. Plus, my new Munchkin brand boiler is 95% efficient. Revenge is sweet sometimes. Maybe you can motivate more folks to convert by making the tax breaks sweeter? Good economic multipliers and improved national security all around. ... See More

I definitely have to send you some better music! That was pretty lame. But John, you touched my heart when you mentioned "Augie's'! And, the reason the people who eat there are so interested in healthcare
is probably due to the food....

Government Takeover of Federal Student Loans Destined for Failure
http://www.financialaidnews.com/2009/09/22/government-takeover-of-federal-student-loans-destined-for-failure/
NOTHING in this new bill takes any measure to reduce the cost of tuition. Loans are already available at incredibly low rates but the colleges keep raising tuition because ... See Moremoney is available and demand is high. Basic economics here folks. If the government wants to make college affordable then put caps on tuition increases for public schools. Problem solved.Anyone who has taken the time to look over the last 20 years of history will see that every time the government increases access to funds the schools raise tuition accordingly. It's a failed solution and they keep adding fuel to the fire.

John Larson The time has come to pass health care reform. Too many Americans and Connecticut residents are losing their health insurance or being denied coverage when they need it most.

John Larson Congressman John Larson testified before the House Administration Committee about his Fair Elections Now legislation that will bring real change to Washington by taking the influence of big donors out of the electoral system, ending the hunt for big dollars, and letting members of Congress get back to doing the people’s work.

Question for you John. Most polls indicate about a 9% approval rating for congress, yet 98% of all incumbents get re-elected. What ideas for legislation would you support to address this glaring disconnect between the mood of the people and subsequent election results? It seems the deck is stacked in favor of incumbents and against any challengers or third party candidacies. Did the Fair Elections Now act address this issue? Judging by the name, it should have. peace, jim

John Larson The hearing yesterday on the Fair Election Now Act was a success. I was proud to see a fellow nutmegger James Garfield, Executive Director of Connecticut’s Elections Enforcement Commission, testified on the successes of Connecticut’s fair elections system. 81% of legislators now serving in the CT General Assembly utilized system.

In Washington, D.C., city councilman David Catania plans to introduce a bill next Tuesday that would make counterfeit marriage legal in the nation's capital. If the proposal passes, as some suspect it will, Congress would have 30 days to stop th...e bill from becoming law. Please encourage Bishop Harry Jackson, D.C. pastors, and Congress in ... See Moreblocking the measure. In preparation for this fight, House Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has already introduced a measure that would protect man-woman marriage in the District. But it'll take more than one member to kill the push for same-sex "marriage" in America's capital. Rep. Jordan needs all the help he can get. Looking for you to support this bill, John. Please stand with Rep. Jordan in stopping this dangerous bill.
