John McGoff With 2010 sneaking up on us, I'm curious; "What are the top three issues that you believe Congress should address in the new year?" Let me hear from you.

1. The Budget - we are spending money we don't have.
2. Education - When are we going to make it affordable for the middle class to get an education. We seem to be paying for everything but get nothing in return. The rich can afford to "pay" for an education and the poor get "free" aid for their education. The middle class is getting the shaft.
3. Energy - I agree with Chris - we need to become less dependent on Middle Eastern oil.

John McGoff Events in Iran and an attempted terrorist act on an American plane demonstrate that while the domestic agenda is front and center, we can't get distracted for a second from what's going on internationally.

John McGoff Breaking News... Biggest winners in the health care reform bill is not Democrats or POTUS, its the insurance companies and their lobbyists. Is it coincidence that health insurance companies stock values soared yesterday?

John McGoff BREAKING NEWS... Look closely at the health reform bill passed by the Senate this morning at 1:15 a.m. Find how much each of the 12 Senators (mostly from the "frontier states") ended up getting in direct funding or tax-breaks for the people of their states by voting 'Yes." Senators buying other Senators... At what cost? Where's the integrity?

Maybe it was the lapdog media that said the wars were #1. They were doing everything they could to destroy the President.

No, I believe war was the priority until we came up with a fairy tale Iraq story. Then people saw our service people were dying for reasons that turned out not to be. The way Iraq went has Americans 2nd guessing rebuilding another country. Do we really want to lose another 4,500--5,000 soldiers???

John McGoff BREAKING NEWS.... President Obama's approval rating hovering just below 50%. Do I detect "buyers' remorse" starting to set in? A good lesson for voters in the next election cycle... Beware of slick candidates that promise change! Kick the tires and look under the hood... Look closely at qualifications, don't be fooled ...by the consultant-packaged message!

Henry, thanks for helping to make my point. No arguing Bush's low rating. Congress' has worked hard to maintain an overall approval rating of 23% over the last few years. POTUS came in with high expectations because of the "punsters" glowing reports and their dislike of the former administration. Now his numbers have steadily declined since he took... See More office because of how people perceive he is handling the issues. I don't think it's out of context. It's a fact.
Thanks for taking part in the discussion!

Blaming everything on Bush Cheney is ludicrous. They made plenty of their own mistakes but the dem's didn't do anybody any favors. Every body wants to point fingers at individuals/personalities as responsible when imho it is the current state of the union if you can still call it one. I can agree with Obama on some issues. I just think that lately they have fallen into the Bush mode of ready-fire-aim.

John McGoff BREAKING NEWS.....The Senate is having a 767 page amendment to the healthcare reform bill read aloud... word-by-word... page-by-page... and there are only four Senators in the chamber... Is this the BEST use of government time?

John McGoff While our country's attention is on healthcare, jobs and Iraq/Afghanistan, Iran is testing improved Sejil 2 long-range missles that can reach Isreal and U.S. bases in the Gulf. More evidence that our elected representatives must have strong experience in foriegn relations so that our citizens can live in a world that is safe.

John McGoff It seems to me that our Congressmen are more concerned with "winning" and pushing through legislation by self-imposed deadlines and disregarding what's best for the American people.
