Pointer is jumpstarting live music at ZACH as the headliner for this rising star showcase. ZACH's stage is octagonal with only 105 seats three rows deep, completely surrounding the stage. You will never be more than about 15 feet from any performer, even in the back row. ZACH has over 20,000 people on their email li...st who buy tickets early, and about one half of one percent of them can fill the room. Tickets are available now online at http://zachscott.com and by calling the box office at (512)476-0541 x1
On Friday, October 16, David Lee Hess and Chris Downey of Seahorse will open, as well as Molly Venter and Monahans.
Thirteen years ago, Hess and Downey played guitar with Pointer in the folk rock band Woodwork and now Hess' sparse lyrics and Downey's melodic electronic explorations come together in their current band Seahorse. Molly Venter has been winning hearts and fans across the US and is one of Austin's best young female musicians. Monahans, who open for acts like the Cowboy Junkies, with their atmospheric, spiritual balladry, will finish the preview before Pointer performs.
On Saturday October 17, Trio Los Vigilantes, a classic Mexican Bolero Trio in the vein of Los Tres Ases, and Trio Los Panchos, will open the show. Isaac Peña, the musical director of the group, plays Requinto (lead guitar) and is the son of renowned ethnomusicologist Manuel Peña. Angel Ibañez sings and plays guitar. Pointer plays cello and sings tenor. The group disbanded in 2001 when Peña moved away but they have recently re-launched the project. David Rice is a guitarist, singer, composer and producer known for his adventurous, soulful music. Wayne Sutton, former guitarist for Sister 7, who will undoubtedly win over the audience with his heartfelt lyrics, gravelly voice, and moving songs.Read More

I've been working on opening Zach Scott Theatre to live music for two now. On Friday, Sept 25th Dave Madden and Wendy Colonna will perform on the Whisenhunt Stage - 130 seats in the round, only three rows deep and an unparalleled space to play and see live music.

I'll perform there on October 16th and 17th, but please don't miss Dave and Wendy. If you know them, and you know Zach Scott, you know this is not one to miss. If you don't know them or the theatre yet... don't find out too late by not going.Read More
