Qiao Shuyuan Does anyone know John's plan for next year? like TV or Films or another play? I went to watch Speaking in Tongues last week but sadly missed the chance to meet him outside the stage so I couldn't ask him by myself. I'm really curious about it.

Got my hands on an old article (new for the site) from 1999, just before Human Traffic came out. Really short and none too revealing, but interesting nonetheless. You can read Mr Simm's answer below. Thanks to L for the heads-up! Actor John Simm nominates Grinderman's Grinderman (2007) "He's getting better as he gets older, Nick Cave. Filthier and dirtier. I saw him at a Doctor Who Christmas special, queuing up with his kids to get Doctor Who's autograph, which was strange." Also, this week's issue of Radio Times features a preview for the two upcoming Doctor Who specials. John Simm is, again, interviewed briefly. You can find the promo pic that came with the article right here. Simm describes his character's latest incarnation as "emo Master". Gone are the sharp suit and slick haircut of his prime minister persona in 2007, to be replaced by wild eyes and punk-white hair peeking out from a hoodie. He flashes in and out of "skeleton mode". "This is a Master who's lived and died," explains Simm, "and now lives again - although he's seen healthier days. He's desperate, and desperate means dangerous." Just the thing for Christmas!
Marit After having seen Speaking in Tongues 3 times I'm amazed at how John is able to keep his performance fresh and yet bring such consistent quality of acting each time. When you consider how shy and reserved he is in person (those of you who have met him will know what I mean) it's even more impressive how he commands you...r attention when he's on stage/screen -how much charisma and presence he has when in character. Best. Actor. Ever. Give this man some awards NOW. ;-)

A new edition of the book Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale, written by Russell T. Davies and Benjamin Cook, is set to be released on January 14th, 2010. The revised guide will include over 300 pages of new material and cover the last specials involving Davies as head writer of the series. You can already pre-order it at t...he BBC Shop. Thanks loads to Blogtor Who for the heads-up! Speaking about future releases, a DVD box with all the latest Doctor Who specials ('The Next Doctor', 'Planet of the Dead', 'The Waters of Mars' and the upcoming Christmas and New Year specials) will be released on January 11th, 2010. Unlike the other DVD set announced, this one will include extras such as cast & crew commentary (one of them probably by David Tennant and John Simm, as they discussed on the radio recently), deleted scenes, Tennant's video diary and Doctor Who Confidential. You can already pre-order it at the BBC Shop too.
